My photography and video work are an exploration of my own negative and traumatic memories, and what I deem to be the aftermath of those negative or traumatic events. Through restaging my memories and photographing the reconstructions I am investigating my own female experience and the role of memory as a malleable and changing thing. My research includes scientific studies on memory, conceptions of how we create memories, and how the act of remembering a memory can alter the original. The resulting projects are a series of photographs and video that rely on staged sets, actors, props, and deliberate lighting. Using a sense of theatricality and role-playing, this project, through exposing my negative past experiences, will create a relatable image for the audience.
